Mirage & Marrow

Personalized Canine Nutrition

Ingredients on kitchen counter for dog's custom meal prep.

Our Mission

At Mirage & Marrow, our mission is simple: to provide your dog with the best nutrition through personalized, science-based, home-prepared meal plans.

The idea started with my first dog, Mirage, whose struggling health improved dramatically when fed a customized, fresh food diet. This experience led me to study canine nutrition in-depth, and now, I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge to help other dogs thrive.

While personalized, home-prepared meal plans aren’t yet widely recognized in the pet care world, I believe every dog deserves access to this level of care. That’s why I’m committed to making high-quality, custom meal plans affordable and accessible for all dog owners.

At Mirage & Marrow, we aim to give back some of the control that pet owners have lost in the ecosystem of pet care. By offering custom meal plans, we allow you to prepare nutritious meals for your dog with full knowledge of the ingredients and where they come from. We believe every dog deserves a personalized, wholesome diet, and we're here to empower you to take charge of your pet’s health and well-being.

How do we create a new and better diet?

Why We Use NRC

The NRC (National Research Council) guidelines are considered one of the most reliable resources for formulating balanced, custom fresh food diets for dogs. Based on extensive scientific research, these guidelines provide detailed recommendations for essential nutrients, including minimum requirements, recommended allowances, and safe upper limits. It also forms the base of other nutrient standards, like AAFCO and FEDIAF. One key advantage of the NRC is its use of metabolic weight (MW) for nutrient formulation, which takes into account the dog’s body weight. This approach is better suited for custom diets, rather than nutrients per calorie, which is what some other guidelines do, ensuring that nutrients are tailored specifically to a dog’s size, age, activity level, and health status. Using NRC as a foundation ensures that each recipe is nutritionally complete and supports long-term health, making it a trusted standard among nutritionists and other pet professionals.
